Pasteuria Bioscience Receives EPA Approval for Pasteuria Liquid Product for Use on Turf and Strawberries

July 26, 2010 – ALACHUA, Fla. – Pasteuria Bioscience (http://www.pasteuriabio.com) has received Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registration for Pasteuria usgae liquid formulation for use against sting nematodes on both turf and strawberries.

May 24, 2010 – ALACHUA, Fla. – Pasteuria Bioscience has completed its manufacturing scale up and is successfully producing Pasteuria spores commercially. Pasteuria spp., a natural microbe prevalent in soil, has long been recognized as a promising biological control agent for nematodes.

Al Kern, PhD, Chairman of the Board
Dr. Kern is currently Director of Biotechnology Programs at California State University San Marcos located in the San Diego biotechnology cluster.  Previously, he was CEO of Entomos, Inc. and assisted in the spin out Pasteuria Bioscience.  Earlier he was Executive Vice President with Mycogen Corporation from start-up through IPO, a market cap of $1.2B, and sale to Dow Chemical.  Prior to Mycogen, he was director of product development with Monsanto and served as the first product manager for Roundup herbicide.  In 1978-82, he resided in Tokyo while building a commercial development organization for Monsanto Far East Asia.  Dr. Kern holds a Ph.D. from Michigan State University.

Dr. David N. Duncan, President and CEO, Pasteuria Bioscience, has had a long and distinguished career in the fields of agriculture, pest control and plant biotechnology. Fouad Azzam, PhD
Fouad Azzam, joined LSP as General Partner in early 2007.  He is based out of LSP's US offices in Boston, MA and is responsible for investments in North America.  Prior to joining LSP, Dr. Azzam was Managing Director of Eastman Ventures where he built the Life Sciences, and Advanced Materials & Devices practices.  In his role as Managing Director, he was not only responsible for numerous early and late stage investments across the US & Europe, but also for the overall investment strategy and launch of several new business platforms.

Prior to his role at Eastman Ventures, Dr. Azzam held senior leadership positions at Eastman Chemical Company including roles in Innovation, Corporate Strategy, Corporate Development (M&A), and New Business Development.  His career also includes business, operating, and technology roles at Occidental Chemical and BFGoodrich.

Dr. Azzam's academic credentials include a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Akron in Ohio, and an M.B.A. in finance & strategy from the University of Buffalo in New York.

Tim Cockshutt
Mr. Cockshutt is a Managing Director of Advantage Capital Partners and sits on the boards of several portfolio companies.  He has 20 years of experience in the venture capital industry and was involved in investments in Whole Foods Market, Earth’s Best, Lifecell and Image Guided Neurologics. Prior to joining Advantage Capital Partners, Mr. Cockshutt was with Meridian Advisors, LTD, a private investment fund, Ventex Management, a private equity firm that managed an SBIC, and Criterion Venture Partners, a venture capital firm that managed three institutional partnerships.  Before becoming involved with venture capital, Mr. Cockshutt was a mining exploration geologist for British Petroleum in Camden, South Carolina and a consulting geologist with Ernest K. Lehmann & Associates in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Mr. Cockshutt received a B.Sc. in Geology from Kings College, University of London and a B.A. in English and philosophy from Amherst College.  He also received an M.B.A. from Rice University.

Richard Molloy
Mr. Molloy is a co-founder of Gordon River Capital. Previously, he was a Principal in Booz Allen & Hamilton's Consumer and Healthcare practice. His client work focused on branded consumer products, industrial products manufacturers, medical products companies, food and food ingredients producers and travel providers.
He has extensive experience working with senior executives and line management on issues of business strategy, customer management, operations restructuring and organization design.
Prior to Booz Allen, Mr. Molloy served as a Captain in the British Army. He has a BSc in Civil Engineering from Sheffield Hallam University (England) and an MBA from Yale University School of Management.
